Anti-Wrinkle Injections, also called Muscle Relaxing Injections, are a treatment where botulinum toxin, or Botox, is used to soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are those that are formed by the contraction of muscles below the skin and we see them most commonly around the eyes and across and between the brow. They are often the first sign of ageing and patients at our central London clinic after complain they make them look tired and angry. Botox works by temporarily freezing the nerve that tells these muscles to contract. The overlying skin then smooths, softening the dynamic wrinkles. In the hands of an experienced practitioner it is possible to create a beautiful and subtle effect that is truly rejuvenating.
Am I Suitable For An Anti Wrinkle Injections (Botox)?
Anti Wrinkle Injections (Botox) are a relatively safe procedure and they are suitable for most men and women. During your free initial consultation, your Timeless Skin practitioner will take your medical history to assess suitability and we may not proceed if you’re suffering from certain blood or muscular disorders. It is also not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Once your suitability for an Anti-Wrinkle Injection has been assessed, the practitioner will discuss what results you are hoping to achieve and we can advise whether this treatment will fulfil your expectations.
What Does An Anti Wrinkle Injections (Botox) Entail?
Your practitioner will clean the area with an antiseptic wipe, but no topical anaesthetic is required for this procedure as it relatively quick and pain-free. Then tiny injections of botulinum toxin are injected into the target areas. Once you leave our central London clinic you’ll be able to resume your normal activities immediately. Side effects of this treatment are very rare; patients may have a small amount of swelling or bleeding at the injection site and sometimes there may be more extensive bruising, particularly around the eyes, but this will fade quickly. Occasionally, patients may have a headache after treatment. Very rarely there may be some sagging in the forehead or above the eyes but this should be temporary and Timeless Skin practitioners are highly skilled and experienced in avoiding these complications.
- Minimal discomfort
- Anti Wrinkle Injections (Botox) are a temporary procedure
- Very safe; for many years Botox has been used for medical purposes in much larger quantities than is injected for aesthetic treatments
- Can be preventative – it is argued that deep wrinkles can be prevented by careful use of Botox earlier on
What Results Can I Expect From Anti Wrinkle Injections (Botox)?
There are no immediate results after an Anti-Wrinkle Injection as it takes approximately three to five days for the muscles to freeze. Depending on the individual patient and the area treated the effects of the Anti-Wrinkle Injection will tend to wear off after approximately three to six months. It’s perfectly safe to have repeated treatments of Botox and we see many patients return for top-ups at our central London Clinic.
